Abstract: Using hydroisomerization catalyst PIC-812 developed by the Petrochemical Research Institute of CNPC, high grade API Ⅱ base oils were prepared by hydrofining-hydroisomerization-hydrofinishing technology from vacuum gas oil of intermediate base crude oil. The results show that the optimized operating conditions for isodewaxing are: hydrogen partial pressure of 15.1 MPa, reaction temperature of 330 ℃, LHSV of 1.4 h-1 and hydrogen to oil volume ratio of 500. The produced HVIH 6 base oil has a pour point of -15 ℃ with a viscosity index of 101 and the yield is 52.58%. It is concluded that high-grade lube base oils can be produced from intermediate VGOs.
