EFFECT OF IONIC LIQUID MODIFIED NANO-Fe3O4 AS ADDITIVE ON THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF SILICONE GREASE

Abstract: Different silicone greases were prepared with three different imidazolium hexafluorophosphate ionic liquids modified nano-Fe3O4 particles as additives. The volume resistivity of greases was measured by GEST-121 volume surface resistance tester.The effect of nano particle additives on the tribological properties of silicone grease was investigated by MTF-R4000 friction and wear tester. The surface morphology of the wear scar was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that the nano-Fe3O4 modified by ionic liquid can further improve the tribological properties of lubricating grease and reduce the volume resistance. Its excellent tribological properties and low resistance are attributed to the interaction between the nano-Fe3O4 and the polarity of ionic liquid.
