Abstract: The research and development of impregnating pitch home and abroad are reviewed，focusing on the technologies for producing impregnating pitch by taking the aromatic extract from lube base oil as raw material. According to the quality requirements of impregnating pitch, modification of feedstock is necessity. Thus, processes for feedstock modification are introduced as well. It can be seen that the production of impregnating pitch from petroleum base feedstock is feasible and it is an environmental friendly and economic approach.
