Abstract: The effect of graphene additives on the tribological properties of lube base oil was studied. The dispersion and storage stability of graphene additives in lube base oil was studied by static sedimentation method. The anti-wear, friction-reducing ability and extreme pressure load-carrying capacity were investigated by a four-ball friction and wear tester. The worn surfaces were analyzed by SEM. The results showed that compared with the PAO 10 lube base oil, the graphene additives could reduce the friction coefficient of 13% and the wear scar diameter of 17% under the same test conditions. The wear mechanisms of both lube base oil and graphene additives are particle wear.
