APPLICATION OF MAGNETIC SEPARATION TECHNOLOGY IN PETROLEUM AND CHEMICAL INDUSTRY

Abstract: Magnetic separation technology, as an efficient separation technology, has the characteristics of large processing capacity, high efficiency, good selectivity and no secondary pollution in treatment processes. Based on the principle and technical characteristics of magnetic separation technology, the applications in petroleum and chemical industry are introduced in wastewater treatment, the separation of FCC catalysts and the separation of Fischer–Tropsch process catalysts. It shows that magnetic separation technology is effective in separating heavy metals, oils and fine suspended solids from waste water of petroleum and chemical industry. The process of separating and recovering FCC catalysts is simple with high economic benefit. After magnetic separation, the catalyst content in the liquid products of Fischer-Tropsch process is significantly reduced. It is pointed out that magnetic separation technology has a broad application prospect and that the recovery of magnetic seeds, the selection of magnetic matrice and the development of new magnetic separation equipments need to be focused on in the future.
