KINETICS OF XYLENE ISOMERIZATION CATALYZED BY SKI-210 CATALYST

Abstract: The kinetics of xylene isomerization catalyzed by SKI-210 catalyst was studied in a fixed bed reactor. The reaction network consists of a consecutive reaction between three xylene isomers and a disproportionation of xylene. The first order kinetics model based on Langmuir adsorption was selected and the reaction rate constants and adsorption equilibrium constant were obtained by using the initial rate method at different reaction temperatures. The conversion calculated by the model is in good agreement with the experimental data, and the model can be used to describe the effect of reaction conditions on the yield of p-xylene.
