Abstract: With the decrease of resources of high-quality paraffinic base crude oil, the quality of lube base oil produced by the traditional solvent refining process has become worse, the viscosity index is lower, and some of them can not meet the standard requirements of API Ⅰ. Because the paraffin market is relatively stable, the low viscosity index base oil maintains a considerable output to maintains the production of paraffin products. In order to effectively utilize this part of low viscosity index base oil, the technology of producing high-grade SBS rubber plasticizer by hydrotreating base oil with low viscosity index was developed by SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, and the added-value of the product was increased. The results show that the color of the rubber plasticizer produced by the process of hydrogenation prerefining-distillation separation-hydrofinishing is basically unchanged after UV irradiation, and it has good yellowing resistance. The expected goal was achieved.
