Abstract: N-formylation of carbon dioxide (CO2) is the reaction of COwith organic amine in the presence of a reducing agent to form N-formamide compound. The N-formylation reaction of CO2 can be used as a resources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, andcan convert cheap CO2 into highvalue-added organic chemicals such as N,N-dimethylformamide and N-formylmorpholine,etc., expandsthe CO2 downstream conversion and utilization of the reaction network. Inthis paper, the catalyst system, catalytic mechanism, and reaction process of N-formylation of CO2 in recent yearswere reviewed, and the problems in the research and future developmentof the reactionwere also discussed.
