Abstract: Polycarboxylic acid was obtained by the reaction of fatty acid with anhydride, and then an amide asphalt emulsifier was synthesized by reaction of modified polyethylene polyamine and polycarboxylic acid, and the emulsifier was characterized by infrared spectroscopy. The laboratory tests showed that the performances of the emulsified asphalt prepared by the self-made emulsifier and the imported emulsifier M met the specification requirements of JTG-E20-2011, and the self-made emulsifier had high solid content and storage stability, and the demulsification time was 8min, which was beneficial to shorten the traffic control time during micro-surface maintenance. In addition, the cost of the self-made emulsifier is only about 76.4 % of the price of the imported emulsifier M.
