Abstract: In order to optimize the process of selective hydrogenation of phenylacetylene in extraction of styrene from pyrolysis gasoline, the process of selective hydrogenation of phenylacetylene in a styrene extraction unit was studied, and the effects of hydrogen-oil ratio and space velocity on industrial phenylacetylene selective hydrogenation were investigated. The results showed that the loss of styrene increased with increasing hydrogen-oil ratio, and the main reason was the polymerization of styrene; the loss rate of styrene decreased with the increase of space velocity. It was found that when the content of phenylacetylene was over 100 μg/g, the chromaticity of styrene product was over 10. The reason why phenylacetylene affected the color of products was that it took part in the polymerization of styrene to produce diene compounds, which affected the chromaticity of styrene products.
