Abstract: The current status of the bio-refining business and relevant supportive policies are introduced. The research and development of the second generation bio-refining technologies and industrial applications are elaborated. Benefit from the biased policies, the bio-refining technologies in Europe are developed in fast pace, some of the technologies have been commercialized. However, the large scale industrialization of the bio-refining process is still in the initial stage. Some energy concerns in Europe also pay close attention to the investment and R&D in the biomass resources. The relevant strategies and plans of the bio-refining business provide valuable references.
