The desulfurization of straight-run diesel fuel was carried out in a hydroperoxide-formic acid catalytic oxidation system using tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as phase transfer catalyst, and later the oxidized organic sulfur compounds were separated by N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) extraction. The influences of the amount of TBAB, reaction temperature, reaction time, dosages of hydroperoxide and formic acid, the volume ratio of solvent-to-oil and mixing speed on the desulfurization of straight-run diesel fuel were investigated. The optimum operation conditions were obtained as follows: a TBAB content of 0.1%, a reaction temperature of 60℃, a reaction time of 2 h, a volume ratio of hydroperoxide-to-diesel of 0.1, a volume ratio of hydroperoxide-to-formic acid of 0.5, a volume ratio of extractant to diesel of 0.4 and a mixing speed of 150 r·min-1. Under such conditions the removal rate of sulfur and the recovered yield of diesel oil were 82.03% and 92.02%, respectively. The results of kinetics study by model fuel showed that the reaction of thiophene removal by H2O2-HCOOH phase transfer catalytic oxidation system was a pseudo first-order reaction with an activation energy of 7.47 kJ·mol-1.

The isobutane/butene alkylation reactions over a solid acid catalyst were carried out under liquid phase and supercritical conditions respectively. Supercritical isobutane fluid regeneration was adopted to recover the activity of partial deactivated catalysts. The influences, such as the composition and phase of the reactivation fluid, regeneration temperature, pressure, fluid space velocity and treating time, on the regeneration were investigated. Results showed that supercritical fluid regeneration was a promising reactivation method for deactivated solid acid alkylation catalyst. For catalyst partially deactivated under liquid phase reaction conditions, when it was regenerated at 180℃, its activity of butene conversion could be totally recovered, and its C8o selectivity could reached 92.8% of that of the fresh catalyst; for catalyst deactivated under supercritical conditions, its C8o selectivity could be recovered to 82.4% of that of the fresh catalyst.

A series of CrOx/SiO2 catalyst samples with various CrOx loadings for catalytic dehydrogenation of n-butane were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalyst samples were characterized by XRD, FT-IR and UV-Vis techniques. It was found that the chromium on the silica surface existed in the form of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) species. The test results showed that with a catalyst having a CrOx loading of 12%, under the optimum reaction conditions of a reaction temperature of 590 ℃, mole ratios of H2 to n-C4H10 of 1.5~2.5, and a WHSV between 1~2 h-1, relatively high n-butane conversion and n-butene selectivity could be obtained. The ratio of 2-butene to 1-butene in the product was mainly influenced by the reaction temperature, the CrOx loading, ratio of hydrogen to n-butane and the WHSV had no significant influence.

ZrO2/SiO2-Al2O3 complex support was prepared by co-precipitation and extrusion respectively, and it was characterized by means of BET, XRD, XPS and NH3-TPD techniques. Test results showed that preparation method had significant influence on the structure and property of the complex support. When ZrO2 was added into the complex support by co-precipitation method, it was propitious to the dispersion of SiO2 on the surface of the complex support and in favor of reducing the binding force between metals and support, thus the prepared catalyst exhibited enhanced hydrogenation activity.

Using nano-particles as additive of aqueous solution is a new way to develop additives with high efficiency and without pollution. Six kinds of borate nano-particles were prepared by direct precipitation method, and the structure of the prepared samples were characterized by means of TEM. The tribological properties of the prepared borate nano-particles as aqueous solution additives were measured by four-ball tester. Results indicated that load-carrying capacity of water could be effectively improved when borate nanoparticles were added, as well as antiwear and friction reduction properties, and the preferable adding dosages were 1% or 1.5%. XPS analysis of the wear scar showed that tribo-chemical reaction might happen and a complex film containing some oxides was formed on the rubbing surface, which provided aqueous solution with good friction reduction and antiwear properties.

When comparing and selecting different technologies for oil vapor recovery applications, cost is usually the most critical parameter if all candidates can meet the emission requirement. This article compares different adsorption based oil vapor recovery schemes, and concludes that the adsorption/absorption combination scheme is still the mainstream worldwide. The variations of this scheme, such as the adsorption/refrigeration combination, the absorption/membrane separation/adsorption combination, are only used under some special scenarios. Due to its relatively simple procedure and less space requirements, the combined adsorption/absorption scheme with dry screw vacuum pump will gradually replace the widely used combined adsorption/absorption scheme with liquid ring vacuum pump. Thus, fundamental research in this area is recommended for domestic institutions having interests in the oil vapor recovery market.
