The research and development of CGP-2 catalyst, a catalyst for MIP-CGP process to reduce the olefin and sulfur contents of FCC naphtha and to enhance propylene yield, were introduced. A specific type of metal compound was added into the matrix to provide active centers for reactions including catalytic conversion and selective adsorption of sulfur containing compounds, to take place. CGP-2 catalyst possessed excellent hydrothermal stability to meet the requirements of the 2nd reaction zone of MIP-CGP process. The Commercial trial of SINOPEC Cangzhou Refinery showed that as compared with base case (using CGP-1Z catalyst), when using CGP-2 catalyst the sulfur content of FCC naphtha was reduced by 30.32%, propylene yield was further increased, as well as good coke selectivity. Thus, the naphtha from MIP-CGP process in Cangzhou refinery can meet the specifications of new gasoline standard implemented in July 2005.

The catalytic activity of propylene epoxidation over titanium silicalite with hollow crystal structure (HTS) was studied. The effects of various binders and reaction temperature on the propylene epoxidation catalyzed by HTS were investigated. The results indicated that the catalyst prepared using SiO2 as binder exhibited better propylene oxide (PO) selectivity as compared with the catalyst prepared by Al2O3 binder. The PO selectivity and the effective utilization of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) both decreased with the increase of reaction temperature. Using fixed-bed reactor, under the optimum reaction conditions of a reaction temperature of 40℃, a reaction pressure of 0.5 MPa, a molar ratio of propylene to H2O2 of 4, a molar ratio of methanol to H2O2 of 40, a WHSV of 12.5 h-1, the effective utilization rate of H2O2 reached 88.07%.

The revamping and optimization of the absorption and stabilization system of a 1.3 Mt/a RFCC unit in SINOPEC Jinling Company was introduced. The separation efficiency and energy consumption prior and post to revamping were compared. Results showed that the separation efficiency was improved significantly by revamping, such as the LPG fraction in dry gas dropped from 3.0%~3.2% to 1.0%~ 1.3% and the vapor pressure of the stabilized naphtha was controlled effectively. Energy consumption of the system was reduced and large profit margin was obtained.

Daqing pyrolysis tar was mixed into delayed coking feed under various blending ratios, and their effects on the product slates and product quality were investigated. Results showed that as compared with the base case, after mixing pyrolysis tar in the feed the yields of dry gas and LPG were reduced, the yields of gasoline, diesel fuel and heavy oil were basically unchanged, yet the coke yield was increased; the contents of sulfur, nitrogen and metals in the main products were slightly decreased.

Additional medium temperature (190˚C) high and low pressure separators were installed at the 1.3 Mt/a medium pressure hydrocracking unit of SINOPEC Beijing Yansan Company to solve the problem of reaction product temperature in excess of design temperature during summertime. The operation results post to revamping showed that the cooled reaction product temperature well met the design target, besides, less fused-ring aromatic hydrocarbons were settled out, which could avoid the contamination of heat exchanger, the load of cold high pressure separator was reduced and the heat lost of liquid product was lowered as well. A saving production cost of 2.3367 million RMB was obtained annually.

Dicyclopentyldimethoxysilane (DCPDMS) was synthesized by the addition of silicon hydride method and the reaction conditions were studied. Firstly, dicyclopentyldichlorosilane (DCPDCS), a reaction intermediate, was prepared under the optimal conditions of a reaction pressure range of 1.0-1.2 MPa, a n(dichlorosilane)/n(cyclopentene) of 1.16, a reaction temperature range of 85-95℃, a catalyst dosage of 1.2 g, an isooctyl alcohol dosage of 2.3 g and a reaction time range of 6-7 h. The conversion of cyclopentene and the yield of DCPDCS were 96.2% and 88.9%, respectively. Then DCPDMS was synthesized under the following reaction conditions: in the first reaction stage and the second reaction stage, the n(methanol)/n(DCPDCS) was 1.33 and 4.95, respectively; the reaction temperature was ambient temperature and below 50℃, respectively. The conversion of DCPDCS reached 87.6%, and the DCPDMS yield was 79.5%.

Polyoxyethylene aliphatic alcohol diester was synthesized using toluene-p-sulfonic acid as catalyst and petroleum ether as water-carrying agent. The influences of reaction temperature,reaction time, catalyst dosage and reactants molar ratio on the conversion were investigated. Orthogonal experiment design was conducted and optimum reaction conditions were obtained as follows: an alcohol ether polymerization degree of 3, a reaction temperature of 240℃, a reaction time of 6 h, a catalyst content of 0.8% and a molar ratio of binary acid to alcohol ether of 1:2.8. The industrial application of the prepared product showed that said product acted as the main monomer of spinning finishes exhibited good thermal stability, lubricity, drawability and cohesion.

Polymers, LDPE and GMA-g-LDPE, were used to modify two kinds of asphalts having different asphaltene contents (Qinhuangdao asphalt and Zhonghai 36-1 asphalt) respectively. The changes of softening point, ductility (at low temperature), penetration index and storage stability under high temperature with the modifier content were investigated and discussed by network structure theory. The changes in FT-IR spectra of asphalts and modified asphalts showed that in the system of LDPE modified asphalts, LDPE was only swelled by asphalts without chemical reactions; yet in the system of GMA-g-LDPE modified asphalts, the epoxy group in GMA-g-LDPE reacted with the functional group of asphaltene to form a kind of network structure between GMA-g-LDPE and the asphalt.

Pilot plant scale of preparing nano-particles copper by high gravity technology was carried out and the prepared product was analyzed and evaluated. The results showed that using high gravity technology to prepare nano-particles copper was feasible, the operation and product quality were stable. The prepared nano-particles copper having a particle size of less than 20 nm, exhibited significant anti-wear and friction reducing function when use as lube oil additive.

Hexahydroxy N-containing heterocyclic compound without sulfur and phosphorus was synthesized and its structure was characterized. The thermal stability, anti-wear, anti-oxidation and anticorrosion performance of the synthesized compound used as lube additive were evaluated by TG, four-ball tester, anti-oxidation test and copper strip corrosive test. The results showed that with said synthesized compound, the worn spot diameter was significantly reduced, the thermal decomposition temperature shifted to higher temperature, and good anticorrosion performance was exhibited as well, which indicated that said synthesized compound could be used as a multifunctional additive for lube oil.

Asphalt from Karamay naphthenic heavy crude was modified by SBR using SBR powder dispersed by mother liquid mixing process. The product qualities could meet the specifications of SBR modified road asphalt (JTG F40-2004) issued by China Ministry of Communications. Various performance test results showed that the product possessed good toughness and tenacity, excellent thermal stability during storing and good road performance at high-low temperatures. According to the SHRP standard evaluation, said product satisfied the requirements of PG64-28.

In order to analyze the existing forms of metallic compounds in alkyl-salicylate metal detergents including calcium detergent and magnesium detergent, the method of membrane dialysis was used to separate the calcic compounds and the magnesian compounds from the detergents respectively. The compounds inside the membrane were transformed into their solid states post to solvent removal. Test results of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) showed that almost all the metallic compounds in the detergents were remained inside the membrane, therefore, the compositions of the solid calcic compounds and the solid magnesian compounds could be represented the metallic compounds in the related detergents. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) was used to measure the binding energies of the metallic compounds, and the results showed that the calcic compounds in the alkyl-salicylate calcium detergent were mainly composed of Ca(OH)2, CaCO3 and calcium alkyl-salicylate; the magnesian compounds of the magnesium detergent were composed of MgOx, MgCO3 and magnesium alkyl-salicylate.
